Plan
With their proposed budget targets, House Republicans deliver more than $1 billion in property tax relief, income tax relief for working Minnesotans, the largest education school budget in history and record support for veterans. The remainder of the budget would grow at about 4 percent, which is in line with most family budgets and inflation.
“Government budgets should not grow faster than family budgets,” said House Republican Leader Marty Seifert.
“We believe Minnesota families should keep more of their hard-earned dollars. An extra $1.1 billion in government spending is enough. Under the Republican plan, state government will grow at a slightly slower rate than the family budget and families will not be subjected to unnecessary tax increases.”
